Reminiscing...

It was 5 years and 7 months ago.

I was at work, video camera ready, when the call came. "You have a baby girl." "She is from Fuling, she's nine months old, and her name is Fu DeMeng."

"Can I come get the package?"

"Yes."

Hands shaking, Bob Marley on the radio, I pull into the parking lot and walk to the door of the agency. Opening the envelope, I see a serious and intelligent face with big eyes looking at me. She is gorgeous! Here is what I saw.

THE STORK IS FLYING!

Reports have it that the referrals have been mailed. I am holding my breath, but it looks like I may have to hold it until Monday. Tomorrow is a possibility, but probably not likely.

By the way, my agency has confirmed that they had my file in the matching room after all these (17!) long months.

Will the sun ever set on this wait?

Well, we did NOT make the last batch, which came out on March 5th. So barring the .1% chance that they have lost our file or some other calamity, we are NEXT. 30 days between batches would put our referral date at April 4th, or 15 more days!

I will update that forecast as any new information surfaces.

Seems unreal still. Mentally, I am very forgetful lately, and hoping it is the excitement and distraction rather than a permanent physical problem!

I am officially on pins and needles. I think we have a 50% chance of being included in this month's batch, and I don't know when that will arrive - by March 15th certainly, but it could be much sooner.

Either way we should receive our referral in the next 1-40 days. I am tense and anxious, not calm and expectant as I would like to be!

Big sister has been a bit tense and cranky too, and thinking maybe SHE wants to be the baby, or that she wants the baby to be HER, exactly as she was when she was little. I think there will definitely be an adjustment period, and it may not be pretty.
